Quite surprisingly to us our arrival in St Petersberg went off without a problem. The Passport Control section of the airport even opened new lanes right as we arrived preventing us from waiting in line for the obligatory half hour to an hour just to get to the baggage claim. It was raining slightly but that actually helped us to negotiate an acceptable taxi price and get on our way to our new Home. The Taxi driver must have been board, because he went from demanding an outrageous 4000 roubles (125 dollars) for the trip to 700 roubles (22 dollars) in about 5 minutes. Thank God our luggage was inside with Nikki when these negotiations occurred as the Taxi Driver was not excited once he saw our 4 bags weighing about 70 pounds a piece going into his taxi. Quite honestly I thought our apartment on the third floor was a good idea for security reasons and privacy as we are the only apartment on the third floor and it is the top floor in our building, all that was before I carried the 4 pieces of luggage up them after a long day of flights...
Much of the furniture we ordered was in place and our landlord had outdone herself in preparing the apartment for us, this is a picture of our living room upon arrival.
